Mike Wilson - Group Manager

Mike Wilson has been involved with manufacturing all of his working life, starting out as an apprentice in Edinburgh with marine engineers Brown Brothers then with Uni-Royal as a planning and industrial engineer. Mike moved to the Scottish Borders in 1969 when he joined Ballantyne Sportswear, Innerleithen, where he became Chief Industrial Engineer. He worked in Brazil for Dawson International in 1974-75 then returned to Ballantyne until 1978. A two year spell with Kinloch Anderson in Edinburgh followed. In 1980 he moved into sales and marketing with electronics manufacturer Bram International, Galashiels. For the last 36 years Mike has been an active exporter and is the proprietor of electronics manufacturer Eildon Systems. He was chair of the Scottish Borders Exporters Association for 23 years and instrumental in the creation of the Scottish Borders Business Forum. He brought together the MDs of the Borders knitwear companies, encouraging them to work together, and he played a major role in developing the group’s Modern Apprenticeship programme. He has run programmes designed to encourage Borders businesses into exporting and has worked with high schools on the Institute of Export’s Young International Trader programme. Now semi-retired he is involved in voluntary mentoring and currently in the creation of a Group and Peer-to-Peer mentoring programme for the many small and micro businesses in the Scottish Borders. Mike lives in Innerleithen and is a very keen golfer.

Emma has worked with a number of businesses within and outwith the Scottish Borders in a variety of roles including Marketing, PR, Fundraising, Research and Bookkeeping. Emma was brought up in the Borders and went to Heriot-Watt University, after 13 year working in London returned to the area with her husband and their two daughters.
